Meet Our Radiologists

John L. Alfieri, M.D.

John L. Alfieri, M.D.

Dr. Alfieri received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1981 through the University of Pittsburgh. From there, he studied and graduated with his medical degree from Hahnemann University. Dr. Alfieri completed his residency in Diagnostic Radiology at Allegheny General Hospital and had a fellowship in Interventional Radiology with Washington University. He is affiliated with the Society of Interventional Radiology, American College of Radiology and American Roentgen Ray Society. His area of interest is Interventional Radiology.

Parham R. Fox, M.D.

Parham R. Fox, M.D.

A 1967 undergraduate of Vanderbilt University and a 1971 medical graduate of the Medical College of Virginia, Dr. Fox has plenty of experience under his belt. He participated in a medical internship as well as completed his residency in Radiology through Duke University. Dr. Fox has served as a Radiologist in the U.S. Navy and is currently a Medical Director for the Radiologic Technology Program. He is a member of numerous societies and has special interests in thyroid disease and oncology.

Robert L. Green, M.D.

Robert L. Green, M.D.

Dr. Green graduated with his Bachelor of Arts and Medical Degree from the University of North Carolina. He was a Pathology Intern with Johns Hopkins University and a Radiology Resident with North Carolina Baptist Hospital. Dr. Green has been certified with the American Board of Radiology since 1988 and has been certified in Interventional Radiology since 1996.

James A. Hall, Jr., M.D.

James A. Hall, Jr., M.D.

Dr. Hall received his undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech in 1975. Upon completion, he studied for his medical degree at Medical College of Virginia, where he was also a radiology intern and resident—achieving the honor of Chief Radiology resident from 1982 to 1983. Dr. Hall has a number of accomplishments, from being named Chief of Neuroradiology at USAF Medical Keesler to being a Diplomate with the National Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Radiology. Dr. Hall has special interest in Neuroradiology, head and neck imaging, and PET and Oncologic imaging.

Timothy B. Hellewell, M.D

Timothy B. Hellewell, M.D

Dr. Hellewell is an undergraduate of Virginia Tech. He received his medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine. Dr. Hellewell completed his internship and residency through the Medical College of Virginia Hospitals at Virginia Commonwealth University. He is certified by the American Board of Radiology and has an active license in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Kevin O. Hicks, MD

Kevin O. Hicks, MD

Dr. Hicks received his undergraduate degree from the College of William and Mary in 1990. From there, Dr. Hicks received his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia in 1998. He completed his internship at Greenville Memorial Hospital and his Radiology residency with University of Mississippi Medical Center. Fellowship Training in Musculoskeletal MRI was also done at the University of Mississippi. He is certified by the American Board of Radiology.

Kenneth C. Hite, M.D.

Kenneth C. Hite, M.D.

An undergraduate of the College of William and Mary, Dr. Hite moved on to Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine where he received his medical degree and was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Dr. Hite completed his internship, residency and fellowship in diagnostic radiology through the Medical College of Virginia Hospitals at Virginia Commonwealth University. He is certified by the American Board of Radiology and has an active license in both the Commonwealth of Virginia and the state of North Carolina.

Richard L. Newton, M.D.

Richard L. Newton, M.D.

Dr. Newton is an undergraduate of the University of Denver and a medical degree graduate from the University of Mississippi. He has been a Board Examiner with the American Board of Radiology since 2000 and takes special interest in Musculoskeletal Radiology, Body Imaging, Cardiac Nuclear Medicine, Thyroidology and Pediatric Radiology.

Daniel W. Schepens, M.D.

Daniel W. Schepens, M.D.

Dr. Schepens joined Radiology Consultants in 2006 after completing a fellowship in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. in Microbiology in 1996 from Mississippi State University and earned his medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in 2000. During medical school, he was a Robert M. Hearin scholar and recipient of the Robert D. Sloan Award, given to the outstanding medical student in the field of radiology He completed an internal medicine internship at the Univesity of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi, in 2001 and a radiology residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in 2005. He served as the chief radiology resident from 2004 - 2005. Dr. Schepens is board certified by the American Board of Radiology and is a member of the American College of Radiology, Radiological Society of North America, American Roentgen Ray Society and the American Medical Association.

A. Tanner Shilling, M.D.

A. Tanner Shilling, M.D.

Dr. Shilling joined Radiology Consultants in 2009, following completion of his fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at the University of Virginia. He graduated highest distinction earning a B.A. in Neuroscience at the University of Virginia. Following college, he studied medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine where Dr. Shilling received his medical degree. Following medical school, Dr. Shilling returned to Charlottesville to complete an internship in General Surgery and then stayed to complete his residency in Diagnostic Radiology. Dr. Shilling is board certified by the American Board of Radiology and has been awarded an advanced certification of additional qualification (CAQ) in his subspecialty of Vascular and Interventional Radiology. Dr. Shilling has an active license in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
